Professional Guitar Teacher. Private One on One Lessons.
Former Guitar Teacher and Store Manager at Scotch Plains Music Center
Bio
I have been playing guitar for over 40 years, since age 11 in 1978. I am a lifelong passionate music and guitar superfan.
As a kid, I took guitar lessons and studied under Ron Beagen at the iconic Scotch Plains Music Center from 1978-1985. I continued my music studies at Montclair State and Kean College.
I began teaching guitar, to my friends, at age 16 and professionally now for over 20 years.
In 2004, I was fortunate enough to "go back home" and began teaching guitar at Scotch Plains Music Center until we closed our doors in 2019. I was also the Store Manager during that whole period.
I have played in cover bands and original bands my whole life. My current band is Less Likely To Burn, a 2 piece original instrumental rock band with drummer Joe DaCunza.

Testimonials
Joey Caruso is a terrific guitar instructor and a very kind and decent individual. We have known Joe for about a decade - since my son started lessons with him in elementary school until he left for college this past fall! Joe makes learning fun and enjoyable which was of utmost concern to me in the early days when my son started out as a somewhat shy and quiet kid who was not necessarily musically inclined. My hope was that the guitar lessons would not be just another activity or a passing phase, but hopefully a lifelong hobby and source of enjoyment for him. I can happily report that Joe succeeded in doing just that! He managed to instill a love of music in him and help him get his 'groove' for which my son and I are really grateful for! I absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend Joe; he's a great teacher and wonderful human being.
